L. (Lei) Chen (City University of Hong Kong)

Lei Chen

Lei Chen is Assistant Professor at the School of Law, City University of Hong Kong. He is an associate member of the International Academy of Comparative Law. He obtained his PhD in law from Stellenbosch University and his LLM from Aberdeen University as well as LLB from ECUPL in China. Before Joining City University of Hong Kong, he was a post-doctoral fellow in the Faculty of Law at the National University of Singapore. He has been a stipendiary researcher at the Max-Planck Institute for Comparative Private Law in Hamburg, Germany and a visiting researcher at various law schools worldwide. His recent publications have appeared in journals published in various jurisdictions, such as, European Review of Private Law, Asian Pacific Law Review, Electronic Journal of Comparative Law, Asian Journal of Comparative Law, Journal of South African Law, Singapore Yearbook of International Law, Legal History Review (Tijdschrift voor Rechtsgeschiedenis), Tsinghua Law Journal. He has recently published a monograph at Intersentia: The Making of Chinese Condominium Law. His research interests are property law, comparative law, legal history and Chinese civil law.
